Department of Enterprise, Trade & Employment
Toward Zero Carbon (TZC) were contracted by DETE to conduct an analysis of carbon emissions associated with the Enterprise sector. In order to achieve this, a number of data sources were analysed, the objective being to set a baseline period against which progress could be measured and emission profile projections could be established.
Objective of the Project
The objective of the project was to develop an abatement strategy to achieve the climate objectives outlined within the Programme for
Government: Our Shared Future and the European Green Deal.
The primary outputs from the project consisted of an interactive abatement modelling which enabled the DETE to project emissions in varying scenarios including the ability to adjust economic performance, fuel mix, fuel prices and technology adoption rates.
An accompanying report was developed which identified the barriers to implementation associated with each of the identified technologies and proposed actions which would incentivize the adoption of carbon abating technologies.
